Section Five of The Packet is designed to work as a sequential and logical system for developing a solid foundation on the Drumset.
First part of this section begins with introductory exercises that develop proper technique, a balanced volumes approach (based off the ride cymbal), proper sound quality for each instrument and basic four limb coordination.
Second section moves into increasingly difficult independence grids in straight, swing and cut time feels.
The third portion of the section presents a number of applications of putting rhythm into the drumset. Creating grooves, fills, solos, linear drumming, left foot clave and much more. This section will challenge any level of player.
The drumset section of The Packet closes with a wide assortment of styles that are directly applicable to jazz band, indoor drumline, percussion ensemble, etc. This is the working drummer's essential list of grooves.
