The Mallets section of The Packet is designed to develop all the necessary 2-mallet and 4-mallet skills for any level percussionist.
The 2-mallet portion is centered around understanding essential music theory, introducing and improving reading skills and building efficient movement around the keyboard.
The 4-mallet section develops fundamental and advanced techniques necessary to perform all levels of literature. Vertical strokes, independent strokes, permutations, one-handed rolls, and other 4-mallet skills are thoroughly addressed.

The one skill that percussionists tend to avoid is "mallet reading". Using a sequential design, The Packet teaches the student to be comfortable behind the keyboard while keeping his/her eyes on the music. No more memorizing music just to be able to perform it.

Developing efficient movement around the keyboard is crucial for higher level music. By using fundamental music theory, The Packet develops a wide variety of 2-mallet skills.

Prior to performing 4-mallet literature, the student must be comfortable with the essential techniques of 4-mallets. The Packet explains and builds the vertical and double vertical strokes, independence, alternating independence through permutations, laterals, one-handed rolls and triple laterals.

Proper technique is wasted unless it can be applied to music. In The Packet there are multiple pages that work this very concept: applying the essential strokes to music using chords, chord progressions, etc.
